11/08 HP ProLiant DL785 G5 earns #1 eight-processor Linux OS performance on two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution Standard Application Benchmark
On November 17, 2008, HP announced that the 8-socket HP ProLiant DL785 G5 server has earned the #1 eight-processor Linux OS performance as well as the #1 eight-processor and 32-core overall performance on the two-tier SAP SD Benchmark. This result achieved a score between two 32-processor servers, and achieved more users than the IBM x3950 M2 eight-processor/32-core result.

The ProLiant DL785 G5 achieved new world record results on the TPC-H@300 GB decision support benchmark: 57,685 QphH, $3.24/QphH@300GB USD price/performance. The HP ProLiant DL785 G5 achieved top performance at 40% less cost per QphH than the IBM System x3950 M2. The HP ProLiant DL385 G5p added another feather in its performance cap with its latest result as a two-processor world record performance leader running Windows on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark. The HP ProLiant DL385 G5p recently achieved 2,752 SAP SD Benchmark users, beating competitors such as IBM, Dell, and Fujitsu Siemens, among others, by up to 52.8% in performance results. The HP ProLiant BL680c is the highest performing 16-core server AND blade server on the VMmark benchmark with a VMmark score of 16.05@12 tiles. This result defeated the Dell PowerEdge M905 server blade by 12% with a one-tile advantage.

09/08 HP ProLiant DL580 G5 and BL680c G5 earn #1 and #2 four-processor performance in two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution Standard Application Benchmark
The HP ProLiant DL580 G5 took the #1 worldwide four-processor performance on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark for the DL580 G5, while the #2 worldwide four-processor performance spot on the two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark was earned by the HP ProLiant BL680c G5. The result also showed 38% scaling from 4-processor 4-core to 4-processor 6-core.

09/08 HP ProLiant BL460c and DL380 G5 achieve two-processor world record performance results on two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution Standard Application Benchmark on Windows
The HP ProLiant BL460c and ProLiant DL380 G5 earned two-processor world record performance results on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark on Windows. These results surpassed competitors such as Dell, IBM, and Fujitsu Siemens, among others, by up to 29.7% and 39.8% in performance results, respectively. In addition, the performance scalability for Quad-Core processors from generation to generation for the HP ProLiant servers was 36.7% better for the BL460c and there was a 40.2% increased performance for the ProLiant DL380 G5 when compared to its previous Quad-Core generations. 09/08 HP ProLiant DL580 G5: #1 single-node result on SPECjAppServer2004 benchmark
The HP ProLiant DL580 G5 using the latest Intel 7400 series processors with six cores and running Oracle WebLogic Server 10g Release 3 with Oracle Database 11g achieved 4,410.07 SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second), which is the #1 worldwide single-node performance and represents 132% scaling as compared to the previous 4 core result.

The DL580 G5 showed excellent price/performance by exceeding the IBM System p570 results in 3 out of 4 benchmark performance criteria at a fraction of the cost.

HP ProLiant leadership continues with the BL460c server blade holding the #1 Microsoft Windows result on Oracle’s Siebel CRM Release 8.0 Benchmark blades with 5,200 users. In addition, the #2 spot is also held by HP with the ProLiant HP BL685c server blade with 4,700 users. The ProLiant BL460c defeated the IBM System x3850 by 33% more number of users while the ProLiant BL685c had 20.5% more users than IBM!

The HP ProLiant DL585 G5 is the highest performing server for four-socket, 16-core servers on the VMmark benchmark with a VMmark score of 14.74@10 tiles. This result defeated competitors Dell, IBM, and Sun.

08/08 HP ProLiant DL585 G5 with Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors takes #1 4-socket worldwide price/performance record again on TPC-C benchmark
HP announced a record-breaking price/performance result again on the TPC-C benchmark for the HP ProLiant DL585 G5, achieving 471,883 tpmC @ USD $1.17/tpmC. The ProLiant DL585 G5 achieved the top 4-socket price/performance result at less than 50% cost of the closest competitor and accomplished over 51% performance improvement from the previous server generation, the ProLiant DL585 G2.

The ProLiant DL585 G5 with the AMD Opteron™ processor Model 8360 achieved two new records on the SPEC® CPU2006 benchmark: #1 overall x86_64 SPECfpÒ_rate_base2006 (156) and #1 overall x86_64 SPECfp_rate2006 (170).

This leading 4-processor Windows performance result shows a performance increase of 7.3% with Quad-Core AMD Opteronä 2.5 GHz processors as compared to the IBM System x3755 result of 3,540 SAP SD Benchmark users achieved with previous generation Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2.3 GHz processors.

06/08 HP ProLiant DL120 G5 tops Dell for energy efficient 1P performance on SPECpower_ssj™2008 benchmark
The HP ProLiant DL120 G5 performed outstanding energy efficient 1P performance on the SPECpower_ssj™2008 benchmark with a one?processor performance of 908 overall ssj_ops/watt. This result defeated the Dell PowerEdge R300 one-processor competitor by 13.5%.

06/08 HP ProLiant DL580 G5 with BL460c beats IBM POWER6/POWER5 result in online performance on Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Medium Model Benchmark
In March 2008, HP submitted a new result for the HP ProLiant DL580 G5 and three ProLiant BL460c blade servers on the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i Medium Model benchmark. The HP ProLiant servers configured with Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors achieved superior results as compared to the IBM System p570 POWER6 and POWER 5 results in each of the following key measurements:
  • 33% faster in Average Response Time
  • 37% faster in 90th percentile Response Time
These results show the superior optimization of the ProLiant four-processor Quad-Core Intel Xeon server architecture versus IBM’s p570 POWER6 and POWER5 four-processor dual-core server architecture.

06/08 Feature-rich HP ProLiant DL360 G5 is more energy efficient than Dell PowerEdge 1950 III and 2950 III
The HP ProLiant DL360 G5 demonstrated energy efficient performance on the SPECpower_ssj™2008 benchmark with a two-processor performance of 722 overall ssj_ops/watt. SPECpower_ssj™2008 is the first generation SPEC benchmark for evaluating the power and performance characteristics of server class computers. This measurement provides a way to compare the energy efficiency of servers.

The HP ProLiant DL385 G5p added another feather in its performance cap with its latest result as a two-processor world record performance leader running Windows on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark. The HP ProLiant DL385 G5p recently achieved 2,752 SAP SD Benchmark users, beating competitors such as IBM, Dell, and Fujitsu Siemens, among others, by up to 52.8% in performance results. In addition, the performance scalability for Quad-Core processors for the ProLiant DL385 G5p was 30.9% better when compared to its previous Quad-Core generation.

The HP ProLiant ML370 G5 is the highest performing 2P server on the VMmark benchmark with a score of 9.15@7 tiles. This result defeated Dell, IBM, and Sun.

09/08 HP ProLiant BL460c and DL380 G5 achieve two-processor world record performance results on two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution Standard Application Benchmark on Windows
The HP ProLiant BL460c and ProLiant DL380 G5 earned two-processor world record performance results on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark on Windows. These results surpassed competitors such as Dell, IBM, and Fujitsu Siemens, among others, by up to 29.7% and 39.8% in performance results, respectively. In addition, the performance scalability for Quad-Core processors from generation to generation for the HP ProLiant servers was 36.7% better for the BL460c and there was a 40.2% increased performance for the ProLiant DL380 G5 when compared to its previous Quad-Core generations. The HP ProLiant DL360 G5 demonstrated energy efficient performance on the SPECpower_ssj™2008 benchmark with a two-processor performance of 722 overall ssj_ops/watt. SPECpower_ssj™2008 is the first generation SPEC benchmark for evaluating the power and performance characteristics of server class computers. This measurement provides a way to compare the energy efficiency of servers.
