Overview

Red Hat and HP have collaborated to deliver a complete availability solution on Linux clusters with HP Serviceguard for Linux and Red Hat Global File System (GFS) for HP ProLiant servers.

HP Serviceguard for Linux provides: continuous access to applications and services. If a server, server component or an application fails, it is restarted or other cluster members can pick-up the workload. Red Hat GFS provides: continuous and shared access to data, through a single cluster-wide file system. The need for data replication and synchronization are eliminated - clusters can be scaled on-the-fly.

Together, HP Serviceguard for Linux and Red Hat GFS provide: A tested, proven solution that provides continuous access to both applications/services and data, and the ability to scale for performance without creating management complexity.

Ideal environment

Ideal for...

Large scale data environments requiring continuous availability
  • Organizations are gaining confidence in the robust and maturing Linux environment such that they are targeting inexpensive Linux servers to deploy complex and critical tasks on Linux. These tasks include data management, large scale file-serving, and business processing applications. They require clustering multiple Linux servers together, all of which need access to the same storage pool. They also require that the applications deployed on the cluster be highly available and not vulnerable to any single point of failure.
  • Such as databases, application and web servers, in-house custom applications, or high-performance compute clusters where NFS scalability and performance are key.
